Willie Holmes was born March 20, 1941 in Saint George, South Carolina.  He was the son of the late Bennie and Lillie Holmes.  He was born the first of six children.  He lived in Brooklyn, New York most of his life.  Willie departed this life on February 1, 2018 at Brookdale Hospital in Brooklyn, New York.

Willie was educated at Williams Memorial High School.  He was a career Truck Driver for many years until his health failed.

Willie was preceded in death by one son, Shawn Holmes, his sisters, Beverly Holmes and Sylvia Holmes and his brothers, Earl Holmes and William Holmes.

He leaves to cherish his fond memories: his brother, Benjamin Holmes, half brother, John Lee (Ebenezer) Wade; half sister, Victoria Davis; one aunt, Margaret Dantzler; two sisters-in-law, Betty Holmes and Linda Holmes; a host of nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
