On December 24, 2013 God took a walk around the Hallmark Nursing Home and stopped by the room of Sister Willie Mae (Bill) Gelzer, where she suffered an extended illness. He said to her, "Take my hand, and let me lead you to the unknown land where there won't be any footprints left in the sand."

Willie Mae (Bill) Gelzer was born November 23, 1943 to the late Jesse (Desse) Johnson. She attended the public schools of Harleyville, South Carolina. She attended St. Daniel United Methodist Church.

Willie Mae (Bill) Gelzer was preceded in death by one son, Jeffrey Gelzer and three sisters, Anna Bell, Jesse Lee and Virginia Johnson.

She leaves to cherish her fondest memories her husband, Herbert Gelzer of Dorchester, South Carolina; four daughters, Evelyn Williams, Angelia Fogel, Tonnette Gelzer all of Dorcherster, South Carolina and Sherrie Washington of Charleston, South Carolina; two sons, Herbert (Felicia) Gelzer of Grover, South Carolina and Tyrone Gelzer of Dorchester, South Carolina; one sister, Mattie (Luke) Gelzer of Dorchester, South Carolina; two sisters-in-law, Georgia (Jeff) Carn of Dorchester, South Carolina and Virginia Perry of New York, New York; three brothers-in-law, Rev. Arthur (Linda) Williams, Wilma (Leola) Williams and Wilber (Anna) Williams of Miami, Florida; nine grandchildren; three great grandchildren; three adopted children, Sharone James, Dino and Melvin Johnson; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
