Willie James Capers, Jr., the son of Willie and Janie Capers, Sr., was born on January 23, 1960, in Georgetown, South Carolina. He graduated from Summerville High School and soon after, he joined the Army National Guard. He retired in 2004, after 23 years of servitude to his country. He received many decorations and medals.
He was called to his final resting place on Wednesday, October 28, 2009, at Trident Regional Medical Center.
On April 15, 1988, Willie James was joined in Holy matrimony to the former, Yolanda Goodwin. This union lasted 21 years before his departure from this earth. He was the father of six children.
He was preceded in death by a sister, several aunts and uncles.
His fondest memories will be cherished by his wife, Yolanda Capers of Dorchester, SC; four daughters, Natalie Capers, Charleston SC, Kathy (Andrew) Jackson and Nekebia Phillips both of Summerville, SC, and Kianna Capers, Dorchester, SC; one step-daughter, Ashley Goodwin, Spartanburg, SC; one son, Jeremy Capers, North Charleston, SC; his parents, Willie James and Janie Bell Capers; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, George Goodwin and Annie Rell Brown; two sisters-in-law, Sophia (John) Ladson and Georgia Goodwin; brother-in-law, Freddie Williams; five aunts, Ollie Larson, Mary Lee (Rufus) Smith, Maggie Dell (Charlie) Gore, Elizabeth Mitchell and Geraldine (Ezekiel) Singleton; six uncles, Clarence (Demetria) Capers, Sam Capers, Jr., Luther Capers, Cornelius Earl (Johnny Mae) Capers, Leroy Capers and Leon Capers; two grandaughters, Sole and Kenishia; three nephews, Trent, Brice and Frederick; three nieces, Ophia, Essence and Asia; a special cousin, Adriene Conyers; a host of cousins, relatives and friends.
