Obituary

Mrs. Wilhelmenia Robinson (Mother) Cobbs, born June 2, 1918 to the late Fletcher and Lottie Bryant Robinson, departed this life on Sunday, August 21, 2016 at the St. George Health Care Center, St. George, South Carolina.

Mother Cobbs was the last surviving child of Fletcher and Lottie's seven children to leave this earthly home.

Mother Cobbs was born in Holly Hill, SC, grew up in the St. Paul Community and attended the public schools of Dorchester County.

Mother Cobbs was united in Holy matrimony (76 years) to the late Paul Cobbs, Sr. To this union they were blessed with five children, with two, Willie C. Cobbs and James Cobbs preceding her in death.

At an early age Mother Cobbs joined the Good Hope Baptist Missionary Church and served faithfully until she became disabled. During her active years in church she shared her love of poetry and inspirational messages at various church functions. She was blessed with an incredible voice and used her talent as a long standing and dedicated member of the Good Hope Baptist Church Senior Choir. She was also a founding member of the gospel group known as the Jubilee Gospel Singers. Mother Cobbs believed that missionary work is the lifeblood of the church. She was a committed missionary and served faithfully as a member of Circle #2.

She leaves to cherish her memories: two daughters, Mary C. Primus and Rose M. Smoaks both of Columbia, SC; one son, Paul (Shirley) Cobbs, Jr. of St. George, SC; one daughter-in-law, Elizabeth (James) Cobbs of St. George, SC; one special grandson reared in the home, Mitchell Paul (April) Cobbs of Columbia, SC; eight grand children; twelve great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; one special niece, Annie M. Pinckney of Brooklyn, NY and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
