Walter Alvin Lemon was born on January 26, 1961, to the late Thomas Levi Lemon, Sr. and Bessie Lingard Lemon who both preceded him in death. Walter was raised in St. George, SC.

Walter attended the public schools of Dorchester County and was a 1980 graduate of St. George High School. While there he was a member of the marching band. He played the trombone and was a Drum Major in the late 70's. Walter then went on to Denmark Technical College where he received an Associate's Degree in Industrial Electricity and Brick Masonry. While there he pledged Esquire Fraternity, INC.

He worked as an In School Suspension teacher in the Dorchester County School system for a few years. Then later he worked at Lieber Correctional Institute, as a Correctional Officer, obtaining the rank of Lieutenant. Walter was also an artist whose drawings were done freehandedly.

Walter was affectionately known as Uncle Pie by all his nieces and nephews who loved him dearly. He was given the nickname Pie by his grandmother the late Hattie Rivers. He was known to other family members and friends as Walt, Lurch or Triple OG.

He was a very outgoing, intelligent and talented father, brother, uncle and cousin who enjoyed spending time with family. He was an entertainer for all family occasions. Walter will be truly missed by his family members, community and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Irene Lemon and Naomi Lemon.

On Monday, March 8, 2021, Walter transitioned peacefully surrounded by loved ones.

Although he has transition precious memories will abide and never be forgotten by his four loving sons, Britton Lemon, Jamar Lemon, Stedmon Lemon, Orien Lemon and one dedicated daughter, Orieniya Ravenell; one grandson, Britton Lemon, Jr.; two sisters, Margie L. Lemon of Middleburg, FL and Betty (Johnny) Bryant of Covington, GA.; three brothers, Thomas Levi Lemon, Jr. of St. George, SC, Joseph (Crystal) Lemon of Middleburg, FL and John E. Lemon of Lexington, SC; four aunts, Retha (Johnny) Cardenez of Ruffin, SC, Ethel Lingard of Orangeburg, SC, Reba Lawton of Ruffin, SC and Queen Esther Lingard of Summerville, SC; one uncle, Benjamin Sanders of DeKalb, GA.; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. A special long-term friend, Danielle Ravenell.
