Obituary

Mrs. Vivian Holman-Gilliard, affectionately known as "Lona" was summoned by God's heavenly angels on Wednesday, November 15, 2023. She was born on December 1,1955, the baby girl of ten children to the late James and Martha Williams Holman. Vivian accepted Christ at an early age, she was a member of Miracle Faith Temple United Church of God.

Vivian had a great love for her family and friends. She will truly be missed by all those she loved and those who loved her. Surely God has granted the soul of Vivian Holman-Gilliard eternal rest.

Vivian attended the public schools in Dorchester County. She was a member of the St. George High School Class of 1974, Vivian attended and studied Business Administration at Morris College in Sumter, SC. Vivian retired from Dorchester County Board of Disability and Special Needs.

Vivian met and married the love of her life and best friend on Valentine's Day, February 14, 2002 Robert Lee Gilliard, she affectionately called him "Her Honey Bun."

Vivian was a woman of many talents; she loved cooking, baking, sewing and doing hair. She was known for wearing beautiful hats that matched her outfit and you could always bet on seeing her husband Robert wearing matching color attire.

Those who preceded her in death and awaited the Grand Family Reunion are her grandparents, parents, James Holman Sr and Martha Williams Holman; brothers; Charles Allen Holman and Harold Leon Holman.

Left to cherish her incredible legacy and many fond and loving memories of her inspiring life is her devoted husband, Robert Lee Gilliard of the home; her cherished daughters, Michelle Myers, Marian Brown, Estell (Kenneth) Hutchison, Ruthie Bailey, Patrice Hollman, and Jolesia Hollman; loving sons; Donald (Zelda) Fuller, Keshawn Robinson and Kenrell Hollman. Godson, Raymond Elmore. Two special granddaughters; Shareka Gilliard Moody and Latifah Gilliard. Two loving sisters; Mrs. Willie Mae Polly, Bowie MD, and Mrs. Martha Mae Brown (Dedicated and Devoted Caregiver) St. George, SC; her brothers; Mr. James Holman Jr, Washington DC, Mr. McCray Holman, Orangeburg SC, Mr. Herman (Harriett) Holman, (Dedicated and Devoted Caregiver) St George, SC; John Clay Holman, Jersey City, NJ, and Vernon (Cindy) Holman, St. George, SC. Adopted sister, Irene Clark. Devoted and Special Nieces and Nephews who help care for her during her time of sickness; Patsy Gardner (Archie), North Charleston, SC; Martha Ann Brown, North Charleston, SC, Mary Ann Brown, St. George, SC, Nancy Brown, LaToya Brown, both of St. George, SC, Datrell Johnson, Columbia, SC and Richard Lee Hallmon, Conyers, GA. Aunts; Mrs. Mildred Goodwin, St George SC, Mrs. Helen (Billy) Jamison, Knoxville, TN, Minnie Lee Breaker, Bowman SC, and Pearlie Mae Williams, St George SC, brothers-in-law, Joseph Brown, St George, SC, Sammie Lee (Jannie Mae) Gilliard, Holly Hill, SC Will T (Helen) Gilliard, Holly Hill, SC and Franklin (Hannah) Gilliard, Holly Hill, SC; sisters-in-law, Mary (Hayes) Bradley, Holly Hill, SC and Burtha Sweard, Holly Hill, SC; A very special college sister friend, Kathy Davis, Conway, SC; a special adopted sister; Cynthia Elmore, St. George, SC; a special adopted nephew Demond McCants, St. George, SC; 15 grandchildren, 18 greatgrandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, colleagues, other relatives and friends.
