On Monday, February 21, 2011 Viola Tobin Brownlee departed this world to go to her heavenly home.
Viola Tobin Brownlee was born April 25, 1944 to the late Wonnie Tobin and Grace Britt Tobin in (Texas Community) St. George, South Carolina. Viola joined Bethel Baptist Church at the early age of 12. She was baptized and filled with the Holy Spirit. One of Viola's special gifts was complimenting others. She always greeted people with a smile and a term of endearment.
Viola graduated from Williams Memorial High School and shortly after move to New York to seek employment. She worked at Palmer Plastics for a number of years followed by White Castle.
While living in New York, she met and joined in holy matrimony the late James Henderson, to that union was two sons, James and Sheldon Henderson.
After a brief illness, Viola relocated to her home town with her two young children. She then established a long term relationship with Edward Brownlee and they married in 1992.
Two brothers preceded her in death, Joseph Tobin and David Tobin.
Viola leaves to cherish her memories, her husband Edward Brownlee; two sons, James and Sheldon Henderson both of New York; five grand children, Devon Britt, Sheldina Henderson, Adam Henderson, Ariel Henderson, James Henderson, Jr. all of Brooklyn, NY; four brothers, Robert (Dorothy) Tobin of Brooklyn, NY, Alexander (Cynthia) Tobin of Jamaica, NY, Evander Tobin of St. George, SC and Jeffrey (Angela) Tobin of Hempstead, NY; four sisters, Elease (Jasper) Gadsden of St. George, SC, Gloria (Joe) Adams of Roundo, SC, Genevieve (Joe) Johnson of Clarksville, TN and Sharline (Herman) Britt of Brooklyn, NY; two aunts, Clara Britt and Margaret Stokes; one uncle, Amos Lewis and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
