Sister Verna Britt, the daughter of the late William and Annie Tobin Britt. She was born November 22, 1919 in the Texas Community of St. George, South Carolina.
At an early age Verna joined St. Mark Baptist Church. As time passed she migrated to New York. There she attended the Scriptural Baptist Church and served on the usher board under the leadership of Reverend Dr. J. Jenkins, Jr.
Verna was a humorous person. She loved family, she loved to laugh, she loved baseball. Her favorite television show was Family Feud. She was a very quiet spirited person but in her quietness she would always let you know she was there, with her radiant and contagious smile.
Verna was preceded in death by her two children, one daughter Mazie Stephens and one son McKinley Hill.
Verna leaves a legacy of love and fond memories to her grandson, Elvin (Annette) Jones of the home, who met her every need; a special great granddaughter, Shanekqwa of the home; grandson, Divine Hill of Brooklyn, NY; great grandson, Dwayne and four other great grand children; two great great grand children; her loving and devoted sister, Bessie Britt; a special nephew Clarence (Wilhelmina) Smith whom she resided with for many years all of Queen, NY and one sister-in-law, Lillian Britt of Brooklyn, NY; a special niece, Annie L. Britt and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
