On Monday, January 10, 2022, an angel from heaven whispered to Thomasine Kelly we have checked your records, good and faithful servant come home and take your rest.  "You have fought a good fight, finished the race and kept the faith."

Thomasine M. Kelly, was known by her family and friends as "Sister", "Tom" or "Mother Kelly".  She answered affectionately to all of them.  She was born in Reevesville, on April 26, 1931 to the late James and Martha B. Moore.  She was one of three children of which one preceded her in death, McKinley Moore.  Thomasine was educated in the local Dorchester County School System.

Sister as she was affectionately known was a very hard worker and loved a good challenge.  She loved the Lord, her children and her family.  She enjoyed cooking and feeding everyone.  She worked for many years for Dorchester Seniors, Inc. in St. George as a CNA.  Nothing was too hard for her to tackle.  She loved to joke and always had a funny story or saying for anyone she met.  She always wanted her children to love the Lord, each other, love all people and get an education.  She always told her, "children be a somebody, not a nobody", that was her way of saying stay in school and get your education.  She made sure all twelve children graduated from high school.  She loved to sing gospels and make quilts.

At an early age Thomasine joined St. Phillip Christian Church.  She was an active member of the Missionary Department until her health started to decline.  She was well known for Jelly Cakes throughout the community.

Later in life Thomasine met and married James Kelly.  She was the proud mother of twelve children.  Two of her children preceded her in death, her son, Louis Moore and her daughter, Irene Kelly.

She leaves to mourn:  her children, Lillie M. Robertson, Martha (Joseph) Simmons, Louise Mays, Susan Rucker, James (Marilyn) Kelly, Ada (Robbie) Fogel, Minnie (Ron) Perscod, Wesley (Paula) Kelly, Percilla Kelly, and Marion C. (Charlotte) Kelly; twenty-five grandchildren; thirty-seven great grandchildren; nine great, great grandchildren; a loving sister, Ida M. DeLee of Rochester, NY; one sister-in-law, Vernell Kelly; a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
