Mrs. Thelma Brown, daughter of Newt and Ella Mae Scott, fell asleep in death on March 23, 2011, after a long illness.

Thelma attended the public schools of Harlem, Georgia. At an early age, she joined Thankful Baptist Church.

She later moved to Brooklyn, New York where she met and married her beloved husband, John K. Brown. John and Thelma were happily married for fifty years and were blessed with one son — John Anthony Brown. Thelma has four children from a previous marriage — Larry Scott, Arnethia Paulson, Henry H. Thomason, Jr. and Stanley Thomason. While living in New York, she was employed by New York State Mental Health until she retired in 1989.

After retiring, the couple moved to Summerville, South Carolina. Thelma soon began to study the bible with Jehovah's Witnesses and became a baptized Jehovah's Witness. She attended the Kingdom Hall faithfully until her health declined.

Thelma leaves to mourn her passing: a loving husband, John K. Brown; five children, John Anthony Brown, Larry Scott of Summerville, South Carolina, Arnethia (Elmore) Paulson of Far Rockaway, New York, Henry H. (Kim) Thomason, Jr. of St. Albans Queens, New York; and Stanley (Tammy) Thomason of Virginia Beach, Virginia; a devoted niece and caregiver, Floral Mathis; six sisters, Louise Pressley of Augusta, Georgia, Fannie Scott of Summerville, South Carolina, Bessie Thomas of Grovetown, Georgia, Betty (Buccie) Harley of Summerville, South Carolina, Sarah Jones of Harlem, Georgia and Emma Lampkin of Brooklyn, New York; two brothers, Eddie (Daisy) Scott of Augusta, Georgia and Jimmy (Bobbie) Scott of Grovetown, Georgia; twelve grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
