Tellis Ray
Geddis, Sr.
Jun 11, 1957 — Jun 10, 2025
Tellis Ray Geddis Sr. was a man whose life reflected the values of faith, family, and quiet strength. Born on June 11, 1957, he was the beloved son of the late John Henry Geddis and Elizabeth "Libby" King, and the grandson of the late James Mike King and Beatrice King. Raised in a family rooted in legacy and resilience, Tellis carried the strength of his heritage throughout his life.
He built a life marked by hard work and dedication, serving faithfully as a truck driver and arborist. Whether on the open road or high among the trees, Tellis worked with diligence, care, and humility. He also had a deep and lasting love for cars—driving them, repairing them, and appreciating their design. It was a passion that brought him peace and pride, and it reflected his attention to detail and appreciation for craftsmanship.
Tellis was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and three of his brothers: Clarence Geddis, Lee Williams and Gregory Charles Geddis. Their memories remained close to his heart.
He is survived by his loving siblings: Marie Geddis and Raja Geddis, who shared in his life's journey with support and connection.
Tellis was a devoted and proud father of six children: Kendrick Frazier, Maurice Barnes, Jurae Ferguson, Tellis Geddis Jr. Shana Thomas, & James Young.
He found his deepest joy in being a grandfather. His legacy lives on in the lives of his grandchildren: Devonte "Bam" Barnes, Jaydon Geddis, Bryson Geddis, Bacari Geddis, and Tellis K Geddis III, King Ferguson, JD Seaver, Madison Ferguson, Makayla Barnes, Kariauna Frazier, Emoni Geddis, Bella Geddis, Nova Washington and Taylen Geddis. Tellis also held near to his heart a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other family and friends.
A loving father, grandfather, brother, and friend, Tellis leaves behind a legacy of quiet strength, steadfast love, laughter, and a picture of enduring character. Though his earthly journey has ended, his influence remains deeply rooted in the hearts of those he loved. The values he lived by continue to grow in the lives of his children and grandchildren. Rest in peace, Tellis Ray Geddis. You will forever be loved, remembered, and honored.
