Sonya Yolanda Kelly, known as "Sweet Pea", was born on March 27th 1967 in Branchville, South Carolina to the parents of the late Louise Kelley and Gable Nathaniel Coger. As a youth, she relocated to New York City, where she attended the public school system. She had a love for people and helping others, which led her to a career in customer service. While in New York, she met and started a family with Roland Rich. Within this union, they had two handsome boys, Beoriginal and Devine Kelly.

They were her pride and joy. She devoted her time and love to her children's education and sporting events. In 1998, she decided to relocate back to her southern roots to South Carolina with just her children by her side.

In her free time, she enjoyed fishing, listening to music, dancing, laughing, playing her numbers and board games. Most of all, she loved playing cards and she was very competitive. Sonya will argue you down if you try and cheat in a card game.

Sonya made her transition on Dec 23rd 2024 at MUSC Hospital.

She was preceded in death by her son, Dan Goodwin Jr.; aunts Barbara West, Evelyn Dickson and Olivia Tingman.

She leaves to cherish her loving memories: her father, Nathaniel Coger; her loving children, Beoriginal (Karen) and Devine Kelly; grandchildren, children Keimora and Beoriginal Jr.; sister Kathey Kelley; aunts, Mariah Koger and Deloise Randolph; nephew Vincent Kelley, Clarence Coger; niece Felicia Coger; close friend Donna Smalls; caretaker Hermina Williams; a host of family and friends.

Sonya's life exemplified the profound effects of love, family, and resilience. She always exhibited an unwavering dedication to those whom she loved. Her strong desire to continue to embrace life is a true testament to who she was as a person. Sonya's strength and compassion, which she endeared to her friends and family, made her a true beacon of hope. The void left by her absence is deeply felt, as her memory is an affecting reminder of our shared love and the invaluable lessons she taught.
