Early Wednesday morning on August 5, 2020 God in his intimate wisdom sent an angel from heaven to take Mary to her heavenly home.
Mary was born on September 23, 1936 to the late Pettigrew and Pansy Bunch to this union three children were born Juanita, Mary and Dorothy. She also had four brothers Gordon, Stanley, and Willie who preceded her in death.
Mary received her formal education in Dorchester County Public school system.
Mary worked for Saint George Nursing Home for thirteen years. She also worked for various families in the Saint George Community. She loved going to the campground to work during the camping season. She was known for her famous biscuits, sweet potato pie and macaroni and cheese.
Church was Mary's life she traveled up and down the highway to various church and conventions until her health failed. She was a member of Shiloh Fire Baptist Holiness Church of God of the Americas for over 65 years. She was an ordained minister and a prayer warrior. She held many positions in the church.
On August 11, 1951, she married Willie Bee Reed, Sr. (deceased) to this union six children were born. She leaves a legacy of love and fond memories to her children: Patricia, PA, Carolyn Sweat Brown, Miami, FL, Willie B. Jr. (Denise), Dudley , NC, Nathaniel, Fort Lauderdale, FL, Willie Mae, Bennettsville, SC and Alisha, Saint George, SC; she had 10 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren who she loved dearly; two sisters, Juanita Buckner of Reevesville, SC and Viola Cobbs of Saint George, SC; In addition, she had a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; a beloved niece, Eunice Wolfe; a special friend, James Ferguson and a dear friend, Mrs. Helen Footman.
