Mr. Shufarrel O. Hicks was born on November 15, 1986 in Charleston, SC to Deacon Leroy James Sr. and Sister Valara Hicks James. He departed this life Friday, February 26, 2021.

He was a 2005 graduate of Woodland High School in Dorchester, SC. At an early age he joined Elem Missionary Baptist Church in Harleyville, SC under the leadership of Rev. Dr. McKinley Ravenell where he served as a member of the youth choir and the M.K Ravenell Ensemble. He also served as the church musician for many years. After relocating he became a member of The Greater Impact Church in Shiloh, NC under the leadership of Elder Kelvin Howard, where he served as the minister of music. Shufarrel's gift of music allowed him to travel and see many parts of the world. When he visited home, Shufarrel enjoyed spending time and taking pictures with his family.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Curtis James Sr. and Georgia James.

He leaves to cherish fond memories; his loving parents Leroy and Valara James, Sr. of Harleyville, SC; four brothers, Leroy Jenkins and Derrick Clark both of Eutawville, SC, Titus Hicks and Leroy (Courtney Johnston) James, Jr., both of Harleyville, SC; two sisters, Tasia Jenkins of Eutawville, SC and Annie James of Harleyville, SC; his maternal grandparents, Edward (Rollie Mae) Hicks Sr., of Harleyville, SC; two nieces, Gianna Hicks and Leah'Vonni James; one nephew, Amir James; one fur baby, Bella Hicks; seven aunts, five uncles, and a host of cousins, other relatives, friends, and his church family.
