Obituary

Shawn Maurice Cobbs, commonly referred to as "Curb," was born on March 28, 1978, in Charleston, South Carolina. He was the son of the late James and Rosetta Riley Cobbs. On April 25, 2025, Shawn passed away peacefully at his residence, surrounded by family. He entered eternal rest and is remembered for his legacy and the impact he had on those around him.

Shawn exemplified a strong work ethic throughout his career. He dedicated over 20 years of service to USCOA until the company's closure. Following this, he continued his commitment to hard work by joining the BID Group, where he worked for more than five years, contributing to the organization.

Shawn derived immense joy from spending quality time with his family outside of his professional commitments. Engaging in activities such as fishing, sharing meals, or simply enjoying each other's company, he endeavored to make every moment meaningful. All who knew him will fondly remember his profound love for his family and his appreciation for laughter and enjoying life.

Shawn was preceded in death by his parents, James and Rosetta Riley Cobbs, his siblings, Allen Cobbs and Terrence Martino, as well as his mother-in-law, Janie Whaley.

The cherished memories of Shawn will be profoundly honored by his life partner, Latodia Simpson; his devoted sons, Treshawn (Jaylen) Cobbs and Alquan (Brenda) Cobbs; his father-in-law, David Whaley; his supportive sister, Rowena Riley (Marvin), and brother, Daniel Haynes; as well as his aunts, Daisy (Charlie) Green, Louise (Johnnie) Kelly, Deloris (David) Harrell, Georgia Senior, Cindy Cobbs, and Debra Cobbs. Additionally, he is survived by his uncles, Joseph (Josephine) Riley, Samuel Riley, Kelvin Riley, Malicah (Cynthia) Cobbs, and Daniel Haynes; one great aunt, Philippine Segar.

He is survived by two sisters-in-law, Elizabeth and Amy Mosley, as well as several nieces, including Tysheema Murray, Teona Martino, Shadiamond, Micklia, and Ny'Rhianna Cobbs, Amyeishia Fuller, Juahkisha Robinson, Bre'Seven Young, Jakya Mosley, and Yjierian Mosley. He also leaves behind several nephews: Jacob Martino, Deshaun Cobbs, Keyonta Britt, Nathaniel Robinson, and Rikko Fuller. Shawn was cherished by many relatives, colleagues, close friends, and his work mother, Eddie Sue Hankins.

Shawn's warm demeanor, generous spirit, and compassionate nature positively influenced all who encountered him. His enduring legacy of love, resilience, and commitment to family will continue to resonate in the hearts of those who cherished him.
