Obituary

Shawanta Britt of Brooklyn, New York peacefully transitioned into eternal rest on Tuesday,
September 18, 2012, at her resident in Saint George, South Carolina.

On December 11,1991, the lord blessed Dora B. Bolden of Saint George, SC and the late
Abraham Bolden with a beautiful baby girl.

At an early age Shawanta joined Naomi A.M.E Zion Church in Brooklyn NY, under the
leadership of Rev. Dr. William Smalls where she sang in the junior choir, as well as the Naomi
Intermediate Choir (NIC). She also was apart of the Fruit of the Spirit praise dancers as well as served on the the junior usher board. In 2005 she moved to South Carolina where she join Bethel
A.M.E Church in Saint George, SC under the care of Rev. Dr. Johnathan C. Roberts. Shawanta
was an active YPDer, she joined the Bethel Youth Choir, and the Bethel Inspirational Dancers.
Shawanta was an active member of the Upper Dorchester County Branch of the NAACP.

Shawanta attended Reberto Bright Daycare center in Brooklyn NY with her siblings Keisha,
James and Tyrike. She later attended Michael E. Berdy Public School (P.S. 188), as well as
Brooklyn studios intermediate school; she later furthered her education at Woodland High School
in Dorchester, SC and the Dorchester County Career School where she became certified in
Culinary Arts and a Nail Technician. Shawanta was also apart of the Woodland High school
Show Choir. Shawanta was a graduate of the class of 2009.
Shawanta enjoyed singing, dancing, and shopping, listening to music, and being with family and friends, but most importantly enjoying her time with her daughter A'liyana as well as her nieces and nephews. Shawanta was employed by McDonalds and had a big heart of love and enjoyed
life itself and was willing to lend a hand to anyone she met, most importantly she always kept a
smile on her face.

Shawanta leaves to cherish her loving memories: her loving daughter, A'liyana Shaniya Britt
of St. George, SC; her devoted and loving mother Dora B. Bolden (the late Abraham Bolden);
her loving GrandParents Mr. & Mrs. Perdy (Carolyn) Chatman of Manning SC; Her Loving
siblings, Vincent (Florinda) Britt of St. George, SC; Sharon (Ricky) Ridgel of Brooklyn, NY;
Darren (Cynthia) Ridgel of Brooklyn, NY; Bobby (Alexandria) Ridgel of Brooklyn, NY; Tennille
(the late DeWayne Smith) Bolden of St. George, SC; Keisha I. Britt of St. George, SC; James M.
Britt of Summerville, SC; Tyrike J. Britt of Columbia, SC; Her loving aunts and uncles; Mrs.
Acer Lee (the Late Leroy Britt), Mr. & Mrs. Leroy (Ollie Mae) Simmons, Mr. & Mrs. Leroy
(Dorothy) Hodges, Mr. & Mrs. Willie C. (Judy) Britt, all of St. George, SC. Mr. & Mrs. Oscar
(Eloise) Britt of Valdosta, Ga; Mr. & Mrs. James (Cherrie) Britt of Brooklyn, NY; a host of
nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, friends and a special Friend Kayla Martino.
