Mrs. Ruthie Lary Carson entered into eternal rest on Tuesday September 6, 2022. She was born June 23, 1940 in Dorchester County. She was the daughter of the late Mrs. Rona Husser Lary Felder and Mr. Winston Lary.
Ruthie grew up in Harleyville, South Carolina where she attended the public schools of Dorchester County. In 1958 she graduated from Kennedy High School. Soon after graduation, she moved to New York where she found work. She was later joined in holy matrimony with the love of her life, Mr. John H. Carson on April 4, 1959. To this union two children were born.
Ruthie was an outstanding member of Shiloh Baptist Church where she ushered, worked in the kitchen and enjoyed being a pastor's aid.
Ruthie worked at King's County Hospital in Brooklyn, New York for ten years in the ER Department. She then attended Queensborough Community College and received her nursing license. Ruthie worked at Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center as a nurse for forty plus years.
Ruthie later retired and relocated back to Harleyville, South Carolina and lived in the St. Paul Community where she was loved. She was also a well-known member of Elem Baptist Church in Harleyville where she absolutely loved her church family.
Preceding her in death, her husband, John H. Carson, her six siblings and her granddaughter, Ashley Carson.
She leaves to cherish precious memories her loving daughters, Cathy Carson of St. George, SC and Shanna Carson of Summerville, SC; five grandchildren, Larhonda Carson of St. George, SC, Ron Anderson, Jaida Lynch, Johnathan Townsend and Destiny Townsend all of Summerville, SC; one great granddaughter, Aliyah Carson of St. George, SC; her sister-in-law, Dora Bell Lary of Harleyville, SC; brother-in-law, Nathaniel Carson of St. George, SC; best friend, Martha James of Harleyville, SC; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
