On Wednesday afternoon, February 2, 2011, the angel of death was dispatched from Heaven to grant eternal life to Sis. Ruth Lee. Born December 7, 1923 in St. George, SC to the late Henry and Aggalee Salley, she served here on earth for 87 years. Even though her body was failing, she knew to lean on Jesus and when it was time, He would make everything right.

Ruth Lee attended the public schools of Dorchester County. During her early life, she became a dedicated member of Good Hope Baptist Church where she served faithfully as a member of Missionary Circle No. 3 and the Senior Usher Board.

After working most of her life, she retired around the age of 78 as a florist in St. George. She loved her work and held the people she worked with close to her heart.

She loved the Lord and tried her best to do what "thus saith the Lord." She was affectionately known to everybody as "Aunt Ruth." Always a merry soul who loved to make you laugh and shared whatever she had. Ruth Lee was united in holy matrimony to the late Bill Lee and to this union three children were born.

Preceding her in death along with her husband were two sons: Michael Lee and Anthony McFadden; two step-sons: Arthur Lee, Nathaniel Lee; and one "special" daughter, Eleanor Cawley Elmore.

She leaves to cherish her memories: one son, Aaron Salley, Brooklyn, NY; two daughters, Cynthia Lee, Columbia, SC and Vernell Lee, St. George, SC; one daughter-in-law, Beverly Lee; two sisters, Virginia Major-Peppers, Brooklyn, NY and Eula Grantham, St. George, SC; two sisters-in-law, Josephine Shingler, Washington, DC and Loretta Salley, Charleston, SC; one uncle, Willie Brice, Charleston, SC; one aunt, Annie Carson, St. George, SC; twelve grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; her special children, Rhonda Hart, Georgia Ann Suggs, Libby Stevens, John Addison and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, caregivers and friends.
