Ms. Ruth Jamison Hayes affectionately known as "Aunt Ruth" was born in St. George, SC, on May 23, 1927. Ruth was the daughter of the late Mr. Sam Jamison and Mattie Mae Rivers Jamison. She departed this life on Monday, September 19, 2016 at her residence.
Ruth attended the public schools of Dorchester County.
Ruth was a lifelong member of St. Luke United Methodist Church where she served faithfully. After the merger, Ruth continued serving God at New Grace until her health declined. Ruth loved her family dearly. She loved people and anyone she came in contact with.
Ruth was married to the late Johnnie B. Hayes. This union was blessed with five beautiful children.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Johnnie B. Hayes; one son, Wilbert Hayes; one grandson, Anthony Smith; her siblings, Fannie, Minus, AZ, Joseph, Frank, Ronnie, John Wesley, Willie C., Eartha, Alean, and Mary Lou.
Ruth leaves to cherish her loving memories: three daughters, Evelyn Smith of Dorchester, SC, Bernadette Hayes of the home and Darlene Hayes of Atlanta, GA; one son, Johnny Hayes of Dallas, TX; two daughters-in-law, Mattie Lee Hayes of Brooklyn, NY and Marilyn Hayes of Dallas, TX; six grandchildren, Damien and Terrence Hayes were reared in the home, Tyrone Hayes, Pamela Smith, Lamont Smith and Jonathan Hayes; three great grandchildren, Sergio Smith, Brandon Smith and Anthony Smith; eight sisters-in-law, Willie Mae Jamison, Rosa Jamison, Nell Jamison, Fannie Kearney, Betty Bey, Mazine Guess, Addie Britt, and Annie Lee Britt; extended family, Herman Britt, Lelia Robinson, Deborah Buckmon, Ronnie Britt, Calvin Britt, Garrie Britt, Ricky Britt and Sharon Britt; a host of other relatives and friends.
