Rufus Cusack transitioned on Tuesday, February 14, 2017 (Valentine's Day). Most people don't associate the amorous love of Valentine's Day with the love of Christ. But, when you have a RELATIONSHIP, you share gifts. And this year, Rufus received the very best Valentine's Day gift…the gift of the company of Jesus; the greatest love of all. He was born October 7, 1946 in Dorchester, SC, a son of the late Kingmon and Eula Mae DeLee Cusack. After graduating from Jenkins Hill High School in 1965, he became employed by Westvaco Paper Mill, North Charleston, SC. Shortly thereafter, he was drafted in to the United States Army where he served his country in the Vietnam War for two years. He received an Honorable Discharge in 1967. Upon his return home, he enrolled in Denmark Technical College where he obtained a certification in Auto Mechanics. After graduation, he became employed at the Dye Plant, North Charleston, SC for a short while. When the opportunity arose, he returned to Westvaco Paper Mill where he worked for 22 years before retiring.

He was a dedicated and lifetime member of Morris Chapel United Methodist Church. He was also a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Chapter No. 78, St. George, SC.

He was united in holy matrimony to Gloria Felder Cusack on June 25, 1976. Their union was blessed with one beautiful daughter.

Rufus was the ultimate reflection of a hard worker, strength, and a gentle spirit.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Gloria Felder Cusack; Daddy's little girl, Karimah Lateefah Cusack; seven sisters, Betty Singletary of Dix Hills, NY, Ollie Smith of Dorchester, SC, Gerona Anderson of Dorchester, SC, Claretha Riley (Michael) of Fayetteville, NC, Patricia Britt of Dorchester, SC, Jacqueline Simons of Dorchester, SC, and Carol Cusack of Lithonia, GA; three brothers, Willie Joe Cusack (Maxine), Luhaze Cusack (Arlethia) and Reginald Cusack (Marie) all of Dorchester, SC; four sisters-in-law, Phyllis Smith of Queens, NY, Lille Jones, Denise Feaster, and Maxine Felder all of Brooklyn, NY; three brothers-in-law, William Felder, Jr. (Theresa) of San Francisco, CA, Bobby Felder (Crystal) of Greeleyville, SC and Stanford L. Smith of Erie, PA; one special uncle, Richard Cusack; three aunts; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
