On the night of Thursday, March 25, 2010, with chilly fingers the Angel of Death sealed the lips of Roy Rogers Brothers.
Roy was born in the Saint George area on February 21, 1943. He was the second of eight children of the late Kirby and Elizabeth Brown Brothers. He was a 1960 graduate of Williams Memorial School, Saint George, South Carolina.
He served 21 years in the United States Air Force before retiring in 1983. Roy was a life long member of Saint Mark Baptist Church where he served as Sunday School Superintendent, Assistant Adult Sunday School Teacher, Secretary Trustee Board, Member of Male Choir and past Vice President of Lovely Hill Brotherhood. He was always willing to help when needed or asked. His passions were singing, music and cooking.
Those to cherish his memory: two sons, Darryl and Rodney Brothers of Simpsonville, SC; two daughters, Gwendolyn and Nookie Brothers of Amsterdam, Netherlands; three sisters, Fannie B. Lee, Whistler, Alabama, Juanita J. Pratt, New York City and Dorothy B. (Emmett) Britt, Saint George, SC; four brothers, Shelly (Peggy) Brothers, Jimmy Brothers, Michael (Lurline) Brothers all of Brooklyn, NY and Kirby (Latonia) Brothers, Jr., Goose Creek, SC; seven grandchildren, Unna Marie, Ariel Charmane, Asyria Chayanne, Kwajalyen Denise, Shannon Denzel, Shaynon D'Angelo and Rodniqua Q'Vette; two great-grandchildren, Mateos and De Arjinay and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
