Rosa Belle was born on July 13, 1942 to Wilson and Anease Washington in St. George, South Carolina. She began her education in the St. George Public School System. In 1950 she migrated to New York with her parents and there continued her education in the NY Public Schools, graduating from Prospect Heights High School.

After school she held positions with Roberson, the Internal Revenue Service and HPD, where she retired in 2005.

In 1964 she met the love of her life, Carl Young. They married in 1967. She is preceded in death by her children GiGi and Flip whom she loved dearly.

Rose attended Macedonia Church of Christ, Disciples of Christ where the Bishop Ernest W. Brown was her pastor. There she served on the Senior Choir, and was the Treasurer of the Pastor's Aid. Until the time of her transition, she attended the Plymouth Congregational Church where Rev. Albert Morrison was her pastor. While serving at Plymouth, she was on the Scholastic Committee.

Rose was known for her carrot cake, fruit cake and who could forget her 4 layered pineapple cake??!! Even more delicious than her cakes was her infectious laugh! You can't mention her laugh without her what??????, are you kidding?????? No one could turn those phrases like her!

Early on Sunday morning, February 10th, God looked down and saw that His child was tired and in need of rest, so he reached down and brought her home to be with Him.

Rose leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Carl; her mother Anease; her Uncle, Clyde Washington and Aunts, Mary Brown and Leanna Washington, (who were more like her brother and sisters); Godchildren, Vincent Washington, Valerie Gott, Samantha Bryant, Nicole Banyan and Nychi Street; Dorothea Washington and Ronald Linton, whom she took as her children ; De'Yonna Linton, whom she took as her Granddaughter (and who she referred to as "Pooh"; and De'Yonna called her "Nana"); special friends, Harriet Hart, Victor Cosme, Jeanette Garret and Minnie Street along with a large host of cousins and friends.
