Rosa Mae Mitchell, affectionately known as "Rose," was born on February 8, 1956, in Trenton, New Jersey, to Florrie Bell Mitchell and the late James A. Mitchell (Kirby). She departed this life on March 17, 2026, at PruittHealth in Walterboro, South Carolina.

Rosa Mae received her education through the Colleton County Public School System, graduating with the Class of 1975. Throughout her life, she worked several jobs, including Steel Mill, CounterFlow, Cousin John's, Big Ollie's, Carter's Fast Stop #1, and Dorchester District Four. Rosa was known as a hardworking woman who took pride in her work ethic, always serving others and doing her part wherever she worked.

Rosa Mae truly had a heart of service and found great joy in helping others. Whether she was cooking a meal, giving thoughtful gifts, or simply offering a helping hand, she made sure the people around her felt cared for and supported. She was especially known for her unique chicken salad, delicious cakes, and homemade pies, which family and friends always looked forward to enjoying. If Rosa could help you, she would without hesitation; and if she couldn't, she would always help you find someone who could.

At an early age, Rosa Mae became a member of Starlight Gospel Mission Church in Walterboro under the leadership of the late Pastor Rosa Lee Mitchell and the late Elder Leon Mitchell, Jr. She faithfully fellowshipped there for over 40 years. Following the pandemic, Rosa began attending Trinity United Methodist Church, where she continued to worship until her health declined.

Rosa Mae was a beloved daughter, mother, family member, and friend whose presence brought warmth and love to everyone around her. She will always be remembered for her kindness, strength, and the love she freely shared with family and friends. Her life, touched many, and her memory will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her father, James A. Mitchell (Kirby); her brothers, Tony V. Mitchell, Perry L. Mitchell, Sr., and Joseph Mitchell; her maternal grandparents,  Walter Mitchell and Mother Jarisher (Ruth) Behlin Mitchell; her paternal grandparents, Leo Mitchell and Mother Rosetta Adams Mitchell; her aunts, Pastor Rosa Lee Mitchell and Mother Annie L. Rhames; her uncle, Elder Leon Mitchell; Saul Mitchell; and her nephew, Aandre L. Geddis.

Rosa Mae leaves to cherish her precious memories her loving daughter, Jasmine E. Williams of Orangeburg, South Carolina; and her devoted mother, Florrie Bell Mitchell of Walterboro, South Carolina. She is also survived by her sisters, Mary F. Ellison and Gloria Jean Mitchell, both of Walterboro, South Carolina; and her brothers, Terry Mitchell of Walterboro, South Carolina, Ronald Mitchell of Miami, Florida, and Willie J. Mitchell of Trenton, New Jersey.

She also leaves behind a loving aunt, Ivory Marie Brown of Trenton, New Jersey; and a cherished uncle, Pastor Elliott (Sayde) Mitchell of Walterboro, South Carolina. Rosa Mae shared a special bond with her nieces and nephews, whom she loved dearly. She cherished her nieces Karen Bingley, Joyce Bingley, Jane Marie Bingley, and Janei Mitchell, all of Walterboro, South Carolina, and Lateisha Geddis of Moncks Corner, South Carolina.

Her beloved nephews include Quentin Geddis of Clubhouse, South Carolina; Howard Bingley, Jr., Mark Bingley, Jeffery Bingley, and Perry Mitchell, Jr., all of Walterboro, South Carolina; and Ricardo Mitchell of Bowman, South Carolina.

Rosa Mae also leaves behind a host of cousins, grand-nieces, grand-nephews, extended family members, and dear friends, all of whom will forever treasure the love, kindness, and memories she shared with them.

Though our hearts are heavy with sorrow, we find comfort in knowing that Rosa Mae's love, generosity, and beautiful spirit will continue to live on through the lives she touched. She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished.
