Rosa Mae Cobb-Walker was born May 19, 1943 in St. George, S.C. the daughter of the late Joseph Cobb and Elouise (Beck) Gadson/Cobb.
Rosa Mae graduated from Williams Memorial High School St. George
S.C. in 1961. Soon after she moved to Brooklyn, New York. She professed hope in Christ at an early age. After moving to Brooklyn, New York, she joined Brownsville Community Baptist Church (formerly known as Pilgrim Baptist Church), under the leadership of the late Rev. Harold Burton Sr. As a member of the Usher Board, she became President and was active in other ministries. As a faithful member, she attended and graduated from the Brownsville Community Baptist Church Bible Institute, School Dean Rev. George E. Dendy.
Rosa Mae was employed with New York City Transit Authority for over
25 years. During her time of employment, she met and married her husband Mr. Shirley Walker. To this union one child was born. Years later, she retired and the family moved to South Jersey. There she became a member of the Green Grove Baptist Church, under the leadership of the Rev. George E. Holland Sr.
Most important to Rosa Mae was her faith in Christ and being with her family. She enjoyed baking cakes which were passed down from her mother, creating flower arrangements and her favorite thing was crocheting.
On Wednesday, January 1, 2020, a heavenly angel was dispatched with a summon for Rosa Mae Walker to make her transition.
She was preceded in death by two brothers James "Boot" Cobb and John "Stinky" Cobb. One sister-in-law Margie Cobb. Six aunts and three uncles.
She leaves to mourn her devoted and loving husband of 43 years Shirley Walker, two daughters Brenda E. Segar and Glynis S. (Richard) Laing; two stepsons Artie and Steve Walker; One sister-in-law Althenia Cobb; One brother-in-law Louie Walker Jr.; One Uncle Arrie Gadson; Two Aunts Clementine and Corine Gadson; A stepsister Leslie Cobb and stepbrother Lawrence Cobb; One grandson Collin "Peanut" Smith; the Segar Family and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family members and friends.
