Roe "Bum" Winningham, Jr., son of the late Roe Winningham, Sr. and Bertie Ladson Winningham Frazier, peacefully fell asleep in death on Saturday, May 26, 2012, at his residence. "Bum," as he was affectionately known by many, was born September 28, 1942, in Dorchester County.

Roe attended the public schools in Dorchester County. He was employed by the Steel Plant in Charleston, South Carolina for many years until his health declined.

At an early age, he attended the House of God Church in Harleyville, South Carolina. In 1966, Roe was joined in Holy matrimony to Barbara Ann Carn Winningham. This union was blessed with two children, Pam and Dale.

Roe was a quiet and peaceable man who loved his family. He will truly be missed by his family, friends and community.
Roe was preceded in death by four sisters and one brother—Agnes Gant, Rosena Bunch, Lucile Edwards, Sarah Winningham Bull and Walter Winingham.

Roe leaves to cherish loving and fond memories: two daughters, Patsy Lemon Jones of North Carolina and Pamalia (Herbert) Winnifred Winningham-Scholfield of Aiken, South Carolina; one son, Dale Winningham of Spartanburg, South Carolina; five grandchildren, Teaous T. Jones, Patron D. Jones, JerQuari Schofield, Austin Schofield and Trenton Winningham; four sisters, Rosa Lee (Richard) Thompson, Geneva McMillan both of St. George, South Carolina, Bernice Hezekiah of Harleyville, South Carolina and Roe Edna (Clarence) Hughes of Ridgeville, South Carolina; one aunt, Louise Smiley of Harleyville, South Carolina; one uncle, Daniel Boyd of Harleyville, South Carolina and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
