Mr. Robert Columbus Felder, the son of the late Christopher Columbus and Henrietta Simmons Felder, was born on December 21, 1941, in Charleston, South Carolina.  His formal Christian education began at an early age at Ebenezer A.M.E. Church in Charleston.  He was a member of Class 23, under the discipleship of Sister Delores N. Halim, when he was called by his Father to worship in heaven on Sunday, June 12, 2022.

Robert attended Burke High School in Charleston.  Throughout his life, he was affectionately and widely known as "Zorro" by a legion of friends and acquaintances.  He loved gospel music and enjoyed singing it.  The lyrics of his favorite song include the words,"…Way down here in sorrow valley Great God Almighty come see about me…"  The name "Zorro" is an outgrowth of the word "sorrow" and was attached to him as a nickname.

Robert was joined in holy matrimony to Theodosia Singleton.  Three precious children were born to this union:  Robert Charles, Octavia Ramona, and Oveta Roberta.  Robert was also blessed to experience the gift of having Edward (Eddie) Paul Singleton, Deborah Elaine Singleton, and Jesse Singleton in his life.

Robert was employed in various jobs throughout his life including as a fireman and sanitation worker.  He is a retired employee from the City of Charleston.

He possessed an exceptional ability to accurately recall names of people, places and events that occurred in his life since the very early days of his existence.  He will be sorely missed as the undisputable family historian.  He cherished his family and even while, ill he insisted on sending birthday cards to them.

Robert was preceded in death by his beloved sister, Bessie Ruth Lewis (Amos).

Robert leaves to mourn his passing: his wife, Theodosia, and three loving children, Robert Charles Felder (Florence), Octavia R. Felder and Oveta R. Smalls (Melvin); a very devoted brother, Colonel (Ret.) Ned Edward Felder; grandchildren, Michael and Mar'Kell Mack, and Annakay Knight; nieces, Deloris (Dee) Ferguson (David) and Sharleen Kris Toney (McKie); nephews, Norman Edward and Gregory Bruce Felder, Mitchel and Amos M. Lewis (Cassandra); a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
