Robert "Bobbie" Taylor son of the late Robbie Taylor and the late Mary Netta Taylor was born in Dorchester County on May 19 th 1944. He grew up in Harleyville, SC and attended Jenkins Hill High School. Shortly after high school, he gained employment at PYA and then gained employment with Giant Cement Plant. He worked diligently until called to service. He signed up for the United States Army. He did two years which involved a trip to Vietnam. He has always been proud of his service. He proudly belongs to the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Chapter 78.
He returned from Vietnam and returned to employment with Giant Cement in Harleyville, SC. He worked there for thirty years and retired. He was also known for building homes. He was a brick mason, carpenter, roofer, whatever the job called for he would get a team and get it done. He would take his children and grand-children to see the work he completed.
He was a family man. The greatest love he had went to his Wife, children, grand-children, and great grand-children. He gave his life to Christ in 2011 in a small church in Florida. He was forever changed.
He married his lovely wife, May Taylor on December 15 th 2017. They have grown and supported each other for these five years. She was devoted to him to the end. His very own Nurse to take care of him. He was happy to be married and proud of his family.
On Friday December 9 th 2022 in Orangeburg SC, God laid a hand on Bobbie and beaconed him home. He was preceded in death by son, Byron Taylor Mims, FL.
Those left to cherish found memories include his loving wife, May Taylor of Elloree, SC, sons and daughters, Robert Taylor Jr. (Teretha) Titusville, FL, Stevie Taylor Harleyville, SC, Robbie Taylor Columbia, SC, Jacquetta Ravenell St. George, SC, Roberick Moultrie Summerville, SC, Rhonda Moultrie Summerville, SC, Matthew Furgerson GA, Joya Bellenger (Taj) Orangeburg, SC, E.J. Idolor Bronx NY, Julius Joseph Elloree SC, siblings, Fran (Thomas) Fields, Katie Murray, Daniel (Dorothy) Taylor, Diane (Robert) Morris, and Darlene (William) Davis; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
