Obituary

"For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith."

Brother Richard "Dickey Flick" Thomas, Jr. was born to the late Richard, Sr. and Mary C. Thomas, September 11, 1949, Dorchester, South Carolina.

"Dickey" was educated at Jenkins Hill High School, Harleyville, SC and Orangeburg Technical College, Orangeburg, SC. He was a member of St. Mark Baptist Church (Pregnall Community) in Dorchester, SC where he was baptized and accepted Christ as his Savior.

'Dickey" was a very outgoing person, he never met a stranger. He was kind and loving to all he knew. "Dickey" believed in keeping it real.

"Dickey" met and married Carol Mackey of St. George, SC. To this union one son was born.

"Dickey" had three favorite songs: "I Don't Feel No Ways Tired", "It's Another Day the Lord Has Kept Me" and "I Will Fly Away".

On August 19, 2014, God summoned his Angel to bring home the soul of "Dickey". He fought a courageous battle during his declining health. He entered the peace of eternal slumber at his residence in Dorchester, SC.

"Dickey" fought a good fight and all his troubles, tension, and sickness of his earthly existence are behind him now. As I bid this world farewell, please don't ask God why? For my troubles are over, all pains are gone and my soul is at rest.

"Dickey" was preceded in death by one sister, Annie Mae Thomas and one brother, Timothy (Inez) Garvin.

His passing will be mourned but his life will continue to be celebrated by his devoted son, Rodriquez LaVert Thomas of Dorchester, SC; one granddaughter, Mia M. Thomas of Columbia, SC; two sisters, Evangelist Phamala Thomas-Pressley of Dorchester, SC and Louise Thomas-Long of Summerville, SC; one brother, Ashley (Beatrice) Johnson, Sr. Denver, CO; three sisters-in-law, Carolyn Mackey, Shirley Mackey and Doris Mackey all of St. George, SC; three brothers-in-law, Herbert Pressley of Goose Creek, SC, Isaiah Long of Greenville, SC and Joe (Val) Mackey of St. George, SC; a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews.
