The Reverend Robert Junior Primus was born on November 25, 1948 in Saint George, South Carolina to late Peter Primus and Myzine Britt Primus Guess.

He grew up in St. George and graduated from Williams Memorial High School in 1966. Shortly after graduation, he married his high school sweetheart Pearline Jennings.  However, their time together was interrupted by Robert being drafted into the military service, army, where he served for two years. Upon discharge, he reunited with wife, and began their married life together. To that union, two children were born: Rederick Sidney and Ashley.

Robert began his employment career with General Electric Company and worked there until their closing in 1985. From there, he worked for various companies in the area until he joined the staff of Dayco Company where he retired after 15 years when his health declined.

Robert became a member of the Bethel Baptist Church at an early age and served faithfully in various capacities including Sunday School Superintendent, Deacon, Pastor, and Assistant Pastor.

Robert answered his ministerial call in April 1992 and became an ordained minister in April 1995.  He was guest speaker at various churches in St George and the surrounding area until he was asked by Bethel Baptist Church, Texas Community, to become pastor of the church. He served in that capacity for about 2 years before leaving to become pastor of New Jerusalem Baptist Church, Holly Hill, SC where he served for approximately 12 years. During this time, he decided to go to college to expand his knowledge base in ministering.  He enrolled in Carolina Theological Bible Institute where he received a Bachelor of Arts in Theology. Robert decided to retire from New Jerusalem after the death of his beloved wife Pearline. However, he could not stay still long as his love for the Lord propelled him to return to Bethel as minister for a brief period. In spite of failing health, Robert continued to do God's work through the ministry at Bethel and to spread the gospel throughout the community. He was known for his deliverance of powerful prayers. He remained active in the community as he was involved in the local Ministers Alliance.

Rev. Primus was a man of few words.  He was reserved in manner. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. He also loved to fish, garden, and share army stories with other veterans.

He is predeceased by wife, Pearline, son, Rederick Sidney, and brothers, Johnnie and Lewis.

Robert leaves to treasure his precious memories: his dedicated and loving daughter, Dr. Ashley Waynette along with his grandson, Brandon (Larissa) ; great-grandchildren: Cam and Mya; his devoted mother, Myzine Primus Guess and sisters; Angie Syphrett, Mary Jones (Maurice) and Beverly Jackson (Nathaniel): special aunt; Fannie Kearney; special cousin, Heyward Primus; special daughter relationship, Darlene Robinson; sisters-in-law, Annette (Harry) Blake, Juanita (Shawn) Glover, Jennifer (Brian) Williams, brothers-in-law, Edward (Cassandra) Jennings, Stanford (Kathy) Jennings, Keith Jennings, and host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
