On Friday, September 5, 2025, God sent his angels to Dorchester, South Carolina, to call Sister Rebecca Barr to eternal rest. She is the daughter of the late Leo Barr and Alma Barr.
Rebecca was born on March 12, 1951 in Dorchester, South Carolina. She graduated from Harleyville Ridgeville High School in 1971.
Rebecca worked in food service for Dorchester School District 4 at Woodland High School. She retired from this position in 2016. She was also a caregiver at Trident Hospital's "White Oaks Manor" in North Charleston, South Carolina and retired in 2018. She truly enjoyed working with the young and old.
Rebecca was a dedicated member of Morris Chapel United Methodist Church in Dorchester, South Carolina. Her commitment to her faith and her church was unwavering. She was an active member of the Usher Board for many years. She loved going to Sunday School.
Rebecca spent most days at the David Sojourner Senior Center in St. George, South Carolina. She enjoyed Arts and Crafts, Bingo, playing board games, exercise classes and talking with her friends. She loved watching television. Her favorite shows were wrestling and old western.
Rebecca leaves to cherish her memories, her six loving nieces; Winnoris Williams, Joan Williams, Gloria Thompson (Percy), Carrie Williams, Leatrus Hardee and Nyeela Williams. Her nephew; Jerry Williams (Jackie). Her grandnieces; Lashelle Williams, Shaunt'a Williams, Nae Nae Williams, Audra O'Megan Williams, Courtney Hardee, Fantasia Williams, Paris Thompson and Talitha Mack. Her grand nephews; Jerry (LC) Williams, Willie Williams and Gamerlear Williams and a host of great grand nieces, great grand nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her brothers: Isaac Barr, Samuel Barr, Jacob Barr and David Barr. Her sisters: Eartha Williams and Minnie Barr and her sister-in-law, Virgina Barr.
We want to acknowledge our very special cousins: Deborah (Debbie) Ross, Peter Williams, Gary Williams and Kathy Williams. They have consistently supported Aunt Rebecca throughout the years.
