Mr. Raymond Gardner , the Son of the Late Ray Gardner and Molly Adams Gardner Simmons, was born on July 9, 1951. He entered into eternal rest on Friday, February 24, 2023 at Trident Regional Hospital in Charleston, SC.

Raymond , affectionately known as "Shamrock", was a devoted man who loved his family and community. He attended the public schools of Dorchester County and was a graduate of Jenkins Hill High School, Class of 1969. He was employed at Giant Cement Plant and retired after 35 years of service.

At an early age Raymond joined Mt. Zion AME Church in Harleyville SC. Later in life he joined the Greater St.  Paul AME Church where he served on the Kitchen Committee and was a devoted volunteer at the church's Food Bank.

Raymond was united in Holy Matrimony to Margaret S. Gardner for 34 years.  As they combined their families, four boys were joined as brothers and reared with love.  Margaret was the apple of his eyes and they devoted their lives to each other and their family as they grew together, never leaving each other's side.

Raymond wore many hats and was involved in many activities in the community. We called him "Shamrock, the Jack of all Trades". He used his talent and skills to bless the community in so many ways:  providing landscape services, volunteer work at the local food bank, coaching and playing community softball, acting as the local neighborhood crime watch in the St. Paul community, to cooking his famous stew pots and making his secret Barbeque sauce for all to enjoy! His love for nature and wildlife allowed him to grace his family and the community with his award-winning catfish stew, pork pots, and wild game, especially deer meat!

Raymond's love for his family was truly undeniable. He gave so much of himself and made sure that everyone was taken care of. Raymond was truly the person who would show up and support the people whom he loved!  Although he loved race cars, campmeeting, cooking, and the Miami Dolphins, Raymond's heartbeat was his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray Gardner and Molly Adams Gardner Simmons, his sons, Raymond Tyrone Gardner and Jason Stanfill, and his sisters, Gertrude Cave and Virginia Milton.

Raymond leaves loving and precious memories to his loving wife Margaret S. Gardner, his sons Jermaine (Johnnie) Gardner, Raynard (Pam) Gardner, Joseph (Tara) Stanfill, A Very Special Niece whom he called his babygirl, Erin Bobbi-Elizabeth Garvin. Siblings, Bertha Washington, Arthur (Loretha) Gardner, Barbara Mack, Patsy (John) Williams, Herbert (Geanine) Gardner, David Gardner, Archie (Patsy) Gardner, Bevealine Gardner, and Jason Gardner. Two Aunts, Polly Gardner and Hannah Heyward. Brothers- in- law, Joseph Wells, Jacob Wells, and Richard Williams. One sister- in-law, Julia Smith. Grandchildren, Payton, Jade, De'Asia, Raynard, Shiasia, Raina, Jacoby, Jaquez, Taylor (Anthony), Nicholas (Buster), and Clayton, 6 great grands. A special friend Rickey Johnson, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends whom "Shimmy Sham" loved very much!!
