Obituary

Raekwon VaShone Nixon, known as " Kwonayvious ", the only son of Mary Portia Haynes and Jimmy VaShone Nixon entered this life on August 12, 1995, in Brooklyn, New York.  He made his transition and departed this life on Saturday, July 18, 2020, at Duke University Hospital, in Durham, N.C.

Raekwon resided in New York, where he attended a school of the arts, City-As-School High School, in Manhattan, New York. Raekwon's first love was music and dance, where he was professed to become a recording artist. After he graduated, he and his friends worked on various ventures in entertainment. In 2017, he moved to Durham, where he met an exceptional young lady. Aside from various music gigs, he worked at Target as an Associate. As an Associate for Target, he was found to be a leader. The manager said, "Raekwon meant a lot to each employee, and his presence had a positive impact on their team. He kept a smile and always had a positive outlook on life."  Before his passing, it was evident that he was fast becoming a local celebrity, where he was admired and loved by his fans and friends.

Raekwon leaves to cherish his precious memories, his loving mother and father Mary Portia Haynes of Brooklyn, NY and Jimmy VaShone Nixon of Scranton, PA; one sister, SharDea Haynes of St. George SC; one nephew, King Terry of St. George, SC; maternal grandparents, Malachi and Cynthia Cobbs of St. George, SC; paternal grandparents, Willie and Vivian Rice of St. George, SC; one aunt, Tanazia Rice of Brooklyn, NY; Other Special Parental Figures :  Timothy Watson of St. George SC; Natasha Palmer of Durham, NC; Friends who were like siblings :  Malik "Roscoe" Palmer of Durham, NC; Bryant "Woo" Palmer of Durham, NC and Aaron "Butta" Stewart of Brooklyn, NY; Keb Bailey of Ridgeville, SC;  Lanya "Nya" Palmer of Durham, NC; his loving girlfriend Raven Byas of Durham, NC; and a host of cousins, great aunts and loved ones.
