Rachel Williams Edwards, a native of South Carolina was born February 18, 1938. She was the daughter of the late Wesley Williams and Estelle Simon Williams Simmons.
Rachel was born and raised in the town of Bowman where she attended the public schools of Orangeburg County. She worshipped with her parents at St. Stephens United Methodist Church before relocating to Mims, Florida.
Upon moving to Florida with her husband, the late Joe L. Edwards, she united in fellowship with Shiloh A.M.E. Church of Mims. She was a member of the usher board and served her church faithfully until returning to her native Bowman.
Rachel was previously employed by Parrish Medical Center, Titusville, Florida as an environmental specialist.
She was the mother of six children, one son, Samuel preceded her in death.
On Sunday evening July 20, 2014 at 10:30 PM, Rachel was relieved of her earthly discomforts while surrounded by her loving family and friends. She is survived by her children: Viola Wolfe-Roth of Indianapolis, IN, Leroy Fogle, Jr. of Mims, FL, Lillie Ruth (Craig) Kent of Titusville, FL, John Lewis Edwards of Milton, FL and David Lee Edwards of Denver, CO; nine grandchildren; a very special niece and nephew who were caretakers and assisted during her time of need, Mary Glover and Fred "Jo" Jones both of Bowman, SC; sisters/brothers-in-law, Emma (George) Johnson of Bowman, SC, Elouise Mack, Essie Bell Baxter, Carletha Palmer all of St. George, SC and Elex (Freddie) Martino of Titusville, FL; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
