Mrs. Perstine "Pert" Haynes Cherry was born in Dorchester County, SC on April 2, 1930.  She is the daughter of the late Joe and Sarah Ann Cobb Haynes.  God in His infinite wisdom granted her wings on Monday, November 14, 2022 at Hospice St. Francis House in Titusville, FL.

At an early age "Pert" joined St. John United Methodist Church where she served faithfully until her health began to fail.  She was a faithful doorkeeper in the house of the Lord, where she held positions as Usher, Trustee, Mother of the church, and an active member of the United Women in Faith.

"Pert" also attended early school education in Dorchester County Schools.

"Pert" loved to cook cakes and pies.  She was employed in various jobs throughout her life.  She loved her family.

As life went on Perstine met and married her late husband, Thomas Cherry.  They resided in Dorchester County until he passed away.

Pert, loved to have family time. She could sit and fellowship for hours while feeding you. She loved serving others until she couldn't anymore. In January of 2020 she took on a new journey in Florida with her son. They became like "Bonnie & Clyde".  Her "Junior" never skipped a beat making sure she was good. She met more extended family members in Florida and loved them like they were blood. She loved to shop with her best girl she called "Miss Lynn".  Ice cream became her favorite thing.

Perstine was preceded in death by her brothers: Julius, Tom, Monroe, Lee, Gus and Matthew Haynes and sisters: Clarine Johnson and Joanna Haynes.

Cherishing her memories are her two children, George Haynes, Jr. of Titusville, FL and Roseztta Summers of St. George, SC; grandchildren, Angela Haynes, Mary Starkes, and Dedra Haynes (Darryl) Waller all of Titusville, FL, Rosalyn M. Summers of Winston Salem, NC, Austin L. Summers of Salisbury, NC, Tamara Summers and Shelia Summers both of St. George, SC, Timothy Summers of Orangeburg, SC, Vanessa Summers of Summerville, SC and Clifford Summers of Ladson, SC; eleven great grandchildren; twenty-eight great great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
