Penny "Eliza" Hankins affectionately known as "Kandi" or "Beanie" was born in Charleston, South Carolina on October 14, 1983 to the late Plenty Hankins, Jr. and Pastor Hattie Mae Boyd-Adebayo-Hankins.

Our beloved sister Penny passed away suddenly on Saturday, December 18, 2021, at only 38 years old. Penny's years of long-suffering, struggles and pain are now over.  Penny was preceded in death by her two sons: Michael Giovanni Hankins & "Baby Boy" Hankins (2021); paternal grandmother, Eliza Gavin-Hankins & paternal grandfather, Plenty Hankins, Sr.; maternal grandmother, Wilbur Moorer-Boyd & maternal grandfather, Carlyle Boyd.  During Penny's childhood years, she was raised under Apostolic/Holiness faith starting as a member of Christ Temple Deliverance Church, Inc. of Ridgeville, SC. Her spiritual upbringing continued on to Trinity United Methodist Church and Mt. Moriah Holiness Church of Saint George, SC. She lastly became a member at House of God Church in Saint George, SC for several years.

Since childhood, Penny was a social butterfly that enjoyed spending time with family, friends and uniting with new people.  She was very smart and a quick thinker, who could make anyone think twice.  She enjoyed traveling, along with visits to her 2 ^nd home in Worcester, MA, where she attended South High Community School and Brooklyn, NY.

Penny relocated back to SC in 1999, where she re-established a close loving bond with special devoted cousin and best friend, Tiwanica Cusack.  By heartbeat, Tiwanica was of Penny's blood sisters that shared most heartfelt memoires.

Penny welcomed her first daughter Camille "Eliziyhana" Hankins in 2015; who filled her heart and soul with joy.  During Penny's latest years, she and Demetrius Johnson shared a special relationship and in 2020, they introduced a second little love, Elena "Demetria" Hankins.  Both girls loved their mother and were to keys to her heart.

Penny also shared a life-long close relationship with Randolph "Coot" McFadden, whom later became the dedicated active and loving Godfather to her two beautiful daughters.  People who knew Penny were aware of her common "Hankins" temperament and straight forward approach.  Yet, would often experience her joking demeanor and stories she told on old times during childhood.

Growing up Penny admired her eldest sister, Modupe O. Adebayo and always shared a special twin-like bond with her youngest sister, Hattie "Elizabeth" Hankins.  She was a very proud big sister and always teased her little sister Elizabeth with childhood stores, congratulated her on her successes and trusted her to shield her dearest secrets.  Sometimes there was laughter, arguments, tears, silent treatment in stubbornness, but in the end there was always love and funny memoires.

Penny trusted and fiercely loved many people.  But we take comfort in knowing that Penny is now at peace surrounded by light.

Penny leaves the following survivors:  two daughters, Camille "Eliziyhana" Hankins (age 6) and Elena Demetria Hankins (age 1); two sisters, Modupe O. Adebayo of South Carolina and Hattie "Elizabeth: Hankins aka "Boo" and nephew, Ryan Jakyi Williams of Connecticut; three aunts, Louise Hankins-Grant of SC, Faizah Boyd-Klass and Ajoya johnson of Brooklyn, NY; three uncles, Nasir Boyd and Derek Johnson of Brooklyn, NY and Carlyie Boyd, Jr. Of Connecticut.

Special close devoted family and friends: Randolph "Coot" McFadden, Tiwanica Cusack and Demetrius Johnson; a host of close cousins, other relatives and friends.
