Obituary

"Verily, verily, I say unto you. He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation but is passed from death unto life." John 5:24

Miss Peggy Sue Hill was born on March 15, 1966, in Dorchester County, South Carolina to the late Mr. Peter Hill, Jr. and Mrs. Dorothy Martino Hill. She was educated in the Public Schools of Dorchester County and is a graduate of St. George High School's Class of 1984.

Peggy touched everyone's lives with extreme passion and unconditional love for her family and friends. She was an affectionate daughter, sister, aunt, niece, cousin and friend to all that knew her and to know her was to love her. Peggy was also a very gracious giver, who gave from her heart to anyone in need.

At an early age, Peggy joined St. Matthews Baptist Church under the leadership of Deacon Willie C. West. Small in stature but big in courage, Peggy did what she loved the most and earned the title as, St. George's First Woman Truck Driver in 1990.

Peggy traveled many miles across the United States working for various trucking companies, most recently being, Cargo Solutions and would be gone from home for weeks at a time, but always kept in touch with those she loved by calling every day to make sure all was well. Never leaving out anyone, Peggy included and encouraged those around by making them feel comfortable and as part of the family.

Gone but will never be forgotten, Peggy will be greatly missed by her mother, Mrs. Dorothy Martino Hill of St. George, SC; her partner, Darryl Allen of St. George, SC; six sisters, Geraldine Martino of Newark, New Jersey, Valerie (John Clay) Britt of Orangeburg, SC, Dorothy Lee (Franklin) Elmore of Green Sea, SC, Deborah Elmore of Reevesville, SC, Priscilla (Richard) Taylor of Holly Hill, SC and Patricia Hill of St. George, SC; one brother, Timothy Hill of St. George, SC; two half sisters, Valerie Bradley of St. George, SC and Mary Allen of Reevesville, SC; two uncles, Elex (Freddie) Martino of Titusville, FL and Ernest (Gloria) Martino of St. George, SC; five aunts, Valerie Bellinger of Queens, NY, Thelma Young of Buffalo, NY, Helen Fripp of Reevesville, SC, Queenie Hill of Winston Salem, NC and Annie V. Martino of St. George, SC; four nephews; one devoted nephew, Mr. Rodney Hill of Orangeburg, SC; six nieces; one devoted niece, Sharda Elmore of Green Sea, SC, two devoted cousins; James, Sr. and Pamela Walker-Martino both of Charleston, SC; and a host of other relatives and friends.
