Obituary

Ollie Mae "Annie Lee" Simmons, the daughter of the late Minus and Dora Britt was born on May 31, 1937 in Dorchester County. She was summoned by God's Heavenly Angel on July 9, 2014 at her residence.

In her early age she joined Bethel AME Church and attended public school in St. George, SC. In 1956, she became a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church, which eventually merged into New Grace United Methodist Church. She served as a member of the United Methodist Women and the Usher Board. She was a faithful member until she became ill.

She leaves to cherish her many memories: her devoted husband, Leroy Simmons; two sons, Leroy (Carolyn) Simmons, Jr. and Ervin (Grola) Simmons both of Summerville, SC; two daughters, Ida (Souleymane) Traore of Brooklyn, NY and Gloria (Clayton) Syphertt of St. George, SC; a granddaughter raised in the home, Laveeta (Michael) Shuler of St. George, SC; two sisters, Dorothy (Leroy) Hodges and Dora Land Britt both of St. George, SC; four brothers, Oscar (Eloise) Britt of Valdosta, GA, James Britt of Brooklyn, NY, Willie Cee (Judy) Britt and the late Roy (Ace Lee) Britt both of St. George, SC; five brothers-in-law, Herbert Simmons, Allen (Marie) Simmons both of St. George, SC, Joseph (Marie) Simmons of Canadys, SC and Adolph Simmons of New Jersey; two sisters-in-law, Corrie Simmons and Mary B. Simmons both of St. George, SC; 16 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
