Obituary

On Monday, July 16, 2012 God called home another golden angel. Neomia Mack Smith was the daughter of the late Jessie Mack McFadden and the late James Collier.

Neomia was born June 6, 1935 in Harleyville, South Carolina. She was educated in the public schools of Dorchester County. She was joined in holy matrimony to the late Virgil Smith, Jr., they were blessed with seven children.

Neomia joined Greater St. Paul AME church at an early age, where she served on the usher board, stewardess board # 2, the Missionary Society, and the kitchen committee. She was also a member of the Christian Burial Association. Neomia enjoyed spending time with family and friends, talking on the phone, going to church, listening to gospel music, buying hats and before she became ill she really enjoyed fishing. Her favorite words were, "Learn all you can while you're in school because once you get it upstairs, NO ONE can take it away from you!"

Neomia was preceded in death by one grandson, DeWayne Smith.

Left to mourn her passing and cherish her memories always is her children: three daughters, Sallie (Ronnie) Johnson of Dorchester, SC, Mary McKoy and Donnie (Walter) Davis both of Harleyville, SC; four sons, Albert Mack, Virgil Smith and Allen (Libby) Smith all of Dorchester, SC and Bruce (Queen) Smith of Walterboro, SC; thirteen grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; two sisters, Caroline Brown of Walterboro, SC and Frances Boyd of Harleyville, SC; a very special cousin Frank Mack and a host of relatives and friends.
