Obituary

Mr. Nathaniel Riley, affectionately known as "Walk," was born February 29, 1948, in Badham, South Carolina, to the late Henry Riley and Christine James Riley. He went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 13, 2021.

Nathaniel was a member of St. Phillip Christian Church.

He was joined in holy matrimony to Mary Frances Hodges on April 10, 1967. This union was blessed with five children.

He was educated in Dorchester County Schools and employed by Southern Tank Transport, where he worked for 48 years and up until the day God called him home. His colleagues will always remember him as "Spiderman" and "Nat." He treasured his wife, children, and grandchildren and embraced every moment with them. Nathaniel took great pride in his role as granddaddy. He had a vivacious personality and a heart of immeasurable gold.

He was preceded in death by his sisters Claylee Goodwin, Joyce Haynes, Sadie Evans; brothers Joseph Sypher, James Riley, and James Duggins.

He leaves to cherish his fondest memories: his loving and devoted wife, Mary Frances Hodges Riley; children, Roxanne Hodges, Ronald Riley, India (Rodney) Riley-Murray, Rainey (Moses) Riley-White of St. George, South Carolina, and Shanika (Kendrick) Riley-Jenkins of Atlanta, Georgia; sisters, Barbara Riley Wright of St. George, South Carolina and Shirley Taylor of Brooklyn, New York; sisters-in-law, Gertie Stokes and Christenia Hodges of St. George, South Carolina; brothers-in-law, Richard Haynes and Edward Hodges of St. George, South Carolina; aunt, Catherine Rolack of St George, South Carolina; uncle, Freddie Moore of Reevesville, South Carolina; grandchildren, Jaquetta Murray, Heather Hill, Raven Jenkins of Atlanta, Georgia and Teona Martino of Spartanburg, South Carolina; special cousin, Louise Britt; special friends, John Britt and Jerry Lewis; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
