Mitchell Roney Syphrett was born October 11, 1958 in Reevesville, SC to the late Henry Elijah Syphrett and Lillie Mae Stewart Syphertt. He departed this life for eternal rest on Sunday, August 3, 2014.
Mitchell was educated within the public schools of Dorchester County where he graduated from St. George High School in 1976. While in high school, he played basketball and football. He was voted most athletic during his senior year. After graduation, he worked at the U.S. Construction Company building roads and highways in South Carolina. He also worked for many years at Sanders Brothers Construction Company where he built commercial and residential buildings and structures until he became disabled.
Mitchell was a faithful member of White Stone Baptist Church and an avid reader of the Bible.
He had a strong love for his dogs, sports, horticulture, industrial work, and collecting unique items. He had a passion for helping others. He was an outdoorsman who loved his family and enjoyed life.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Henry Eugene Syphertt; and his brother-in-law, Michael Smith.
Mitchell leaves to celebrate his life and cherish fond memories: his loving and devoted sister, Floria Syphertt Smith of St. George, SC; devoted niece, Michelle Smith of Goose Creek, SC; two additional sisters, Yvonne (Donald) Glover of Springfield, VA, and Annie Heath of Stockbridge, GA; one brother, Howard (Thu) Syphertt of Riverdale, GA; sister-in-law, Tamora Syphertt of TX; five aunts, Neather Syphertt ("Mama Neat"), Beaulah Lucas, Carrie Ravenell, Leanna P. Syphertt, and Mary Stewart; one uncle, Ezra Lee Stewart; nieces, Kimberly Syphertt, Melissa Syphertt, Dawn Glover-Nicholson, and Marshanna Heath; nephews, Reginald Glover, Michael Smith, Byron Syphertt, Derrek Syphertt, Chad Syphertt, and Larry Heath, Jr.; special cousins, Marvin Britt, Horace, Isaac, Joseph, and John Addison; special friends, Freddie, Jeremy, Mickey, James, Joey, and Joseph. He is also survived by a host of other relatives and friends.
