Obituary

Minnie Lee Breaker, born September 20, 1934, in St. George, South Carolina, peacefully entered eternal rest on May 17, 2025, at the residence. She was the beloved daughter of the late Wesley and Hattie Mae Williams.

Minnie received her education through Dorchester County School system. She was known for her love of cooking, gardening, and sewing, bringing warmth and care to everyone around her through the meals she prepared, the plants and flowers she nurtured, and the garments she lovingly crafted. Minnie worked as a seamstress at Orangeburg Garment for 12 years, dedicating herself to her craft with care and precision. She later joined the staff at Bowman Elementary School, where she served as a cafeteria cook until retirement, lovely preparing meals for generations of students.

Minnie married Margin Breaker Sr on April 15, 1950. They were devoted lifelong companions for 74 years. Their union was blessed with five children: Margin Jr (Clay), Woodrow, Pearl, Melvin, and Linda. Minnie was a loving and nurturing mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Her caring spirit extended far beyond her immediate family—she embraced friends and members of the community with the same warmth and guidance, becoming a mother and grandmother figure to many.

Minnie was a lifelong member of Shady Grove United Methodist Church, having joined at an early age. Throughout her years of membership, she was an active member of the Shady Grove United Methodist Senior choir, sharing her love of music and worship with the congregation.

Minnie was preceded in death by her husband, Margin Breaker Sr; her parents, Wesley and Hattie Williams; her siblings: Marion, Robert, Alvin (AC), Earl, Corrine, Adel, Mary Bell, Annie Lou, Dennis, Wesley, Herbert (Tootsie), McCray, Julius, and Lillian; her son, Woodrow Breaker; and grandchildren Delonte Breaker and Michelle Johnson.

Minnie is survived by her children:  Margin (Brenda) Breaker Jr of District Heights, MD, Pearl Breaker of Bowman, SC, Melvin (Treva) Breaker Sr of Bowman, SC, and Linda Breaker Banks of Bowman, SC; 11 grandchildren:   Daniel Rush, Jason (Chrissy) Breaker, Curtis Carroll, Anthony (LaShawn) Carroll, Angela Breaker, Tommy Banks, Tammi (Ayishia) Banks Johnson, Tomeka Banks, Sheree Breaker, Melvin Breaker Jr, and Travell Breaker; 20 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; 1 goddaughter, Willa Mae Pollie;  two special friends, Charlene Breaker and Stacy Aiken; and a host of nieces and nephews.
