Michael Clay Brown, Sr. also affectionately called "Brown" transitioned on Tuesday, January 9, 2018.

Michael was born on April 9, 1952 to the late Mr. and Mrs. Ernest David Brown, Sr. (Dorothy Brooks).  He graduated from Jenkins Hill High School in 1970. He also received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Voorhees College.  Michael was employed at Robert Bosch Charleston Plant for almost 20 years. Some of his hobbies included fishing, farming (peanuts), and spending time with his family and friends. Singing was one of his extraordinary gifts.  Some of his favorite songs to sing included "Born by The River," "Feel Him Moving," "Heavenly Choir." The Carolina Dixiaires, The Gospel Harmonaires, The Brothers of Christ, and The Greater St Paul AME Male and Senior Choirs were some of the singing groups he participated in.  He also was a member of The Greater St. Paul AME Usher Board.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Marvie Lemon Brown; three children Michael  Brown, Jr of Memphis, Tennessee; Wesley Brown (Lauren) of Clarksburg, West Virginia; Latisha (Tavarius) Brown of Dorchester , South Carolina, honorary children, Barbara Simmons, Hollis Banks, Curtis Way, Lorie Rivers, Terrence Rivers and Charlene Frazier;  six  grandchildren, Lalah Richardson, Wesley Brown, Jr.,  Jasmyn Brown , Jaylen Brown, Brendalyn Brown, and Trinity Footman; three honorary grandchildren, Courtney Simmons,  Nathan Frazier, Parker, Jayden; two brothers preceded him in death; two surviving brothers, Dan Brown of Holly Hill, South Carolina, Etholia (Rhetta) Brown of Dorchester, two sisters, Clara (Roger) Moses of Denmark, South Carolina, Mable (Clint) Moses of Aiken of South Carolina; one aunt Ms. Mattie Stokes Brown of Harleyville, SC ; four sisters-in-laws, Barbara White (Frank), Ruby Pooser, and Ruby Lemon of St George, SC and Ms. Annie Dozier (Artis)  of Brooklyn, New York; two close nieces, Minister Dorothy Moyd and Ms. Janet Lemon of Columbia, SC; close friends, Mr. Nathaniel Elmore, Mr. George Spisinger, and Mr. Clary Miller, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends,  and god children.

Michael fought a long and hard good fight of faith.  On Tuesday, January 9 ^th The Lord asked him, "Are you ready to take up thy bed and walk (James 5:8)?" He answered. He walked and took a seat in heavenly choir he sang about it.  He will live forever in the hearts and minds of his family, friends, and his community.
