Mr. McCoy Johnson departed this earthly life on Sunday, December 3, 2023 at Agape Hospice Care in Summerville, SC. He was born October 15, 1948 in Dorchester County, the oldest son of the late Booker T. and the late Albertha Johnson.

After graduating from Williams Memorial, he entered the US Army. Upon his discharge, he was employed at Holly Hill Lumber Company and he was a self-employed carpenter. He was a lifelong member of Shady Grove United Methodist Church where he served faithfully.

He was married to the late Isabella Johnson and the father of two children, the late Renata Johnson and Mandrell Johnson.

He leaves to cherish his beautiful memories: his devoted son, Mandrell (Karen) Johnson, Raleigh, NC, grandchildren, whom he loved dearly; Shania, Quinette, and Mandrell, Jr., two great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews reared in the home, Shanelle (Victor) Johnson, Sharae Smith, Eric Miller, Tiffany Ross and Brandon Ross, a significant companion, Juanita Owens, four sisters, Bessie Hodges, Margie (John) Bradley, Lora (Alvin) Govan, all of St. George, and Doresa Littles, Laurens, SC, five brothers, Ronnie (Sallie) Johnson, Dorchester, SC, Thomas Johnson, Steve Johnson, Charles "Stevie" Williams, and Cary Carn, all of St. George, one uncle, Augusta (Ruth) Johnson of Washington DC, sisters-in-law, Clara Johnson of Bowman and Gloria Johnson of St. George, SC, his significant companion's son (Roger Owens Jr) and grandson of the home, a special niece and caregiver, Jalisa Govan, and a host of other relatives and friends.  Special thanks to the staff at Davita Dialysis and Pruitt Health Care.
