Obituary

Maude Ann Cobbs was born on January 6, 1947 in Bells, South Carolina, to the late Blease and Deloris Berry. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who dedicated her life to her family and to those she loved.

Throughout her life, Maude was known for her kindness, compassion, strength, generosity, loving spirit, and unapologetic authenticity. She was honest and direct, never afraid to speak her mind or stand firmly in who she was. Her bluntness was simply part of her authenticity. She spoke honestly, loved deeply, and was never afraid to be herself. She found great purpose in caring for others and took immense pride in being of service. For more than 20 years, she dedicated herself to caring for others as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), a profession that reflected the compassion and nurturing spirit she carried in her heart. She cared for others with patience, dignity, and genuine love, always taking pride in making a difference.

Her heart for service extended beyond her profession and into her faith and community. Maude faithfully served as an usher at her church, welcoming others with warmth and kindness and always willing to lend a helping hand. Whether caring for others, serving in her church, or being there for family and friends, helping people was not just something she did; it was a reflection of who she was.

Her greatest joy was her family. She cherished every moment with her children and grandchildren and took great pride in the family she built. Her love, wisdom, laughter, and presence brought comfort and joy to those around her. Her greatest legacy will always be the love she poured into her family.

She was preceded in death by parents, Blease and Deloris Berry, three brothers Daniel Cecil, Blease Jr., Ezekiel Berry and sister Lucille Martin. She leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 61 years, Burnell Cobbs; three loving daughters: Pamela Brown, Kimberly Cobbs, Lindsey (Robert) Hill; one loving son, Kevin Cobbs; nine grandchildren: Lizette “Ziggy” Cobbs, Revenna “Chops” Brown, Saderia Cobbs, Kavian Cobbs, Xavier Cobbs, Emoni Cobbs, Faith Hill, Ian Cobbs, Ausar Hill, one great- grandson, Karcyn Sweat, one sister Mary (Roger) Davis, one brother Paul (Mazella) Berry, brother-in-law, Willie James Cobbs, sister-in-law Barbara Ann Cobbs and a host of loving relatives, friends, and others whose lives she touched.

Though our hearts are heavy with her passing, we are grateful for the love, memories, and lessons she left behind. Her physical presence may be gone, but her love and spirit will forever live on in all who knew her.
