Mattie P. Williams died on Saturday, May 20, 2023 at Trident Medical Center in North Charleston, South Carolina. She was born on February 17, 1930 in Holly Hill, South Carolina.
She attended the public schools of Orangeburg, County. At an early age she became a member of Mt. Olive AME Church.
She loved fishing, cooking, cleaning yard, cleaning house, but most of all she loved her kids and grandkids.
She was a hard worker. She worked on the Rizer's Farm in Bowman, South Carolina for many years. She also worked in housekeeping.
She was united in marriage to Harvey Williams for 15 years, who preceded her in death. Then later she remarried Pernell Fogle, Sr. They were married for 60 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Pernell Fogle, Sr., her daughters, Inell Hutchson, Diane Williams, and Joanna Williams, one granddaughter, Shaunvenique Shuler, one great granddaughter, Lania Simmons, brothers, Harry, Willie, Glennie, Hill, James and Pelzer, two sisters, Pauline Washington and Hattie Lee Green, two daughters-in-law, Barbara Ann Williams and Mary Ann Williams, and one son-in-law, EL Jenkins.
She leaves to cherish precious memories: nine daughters, Betty Wilson, Ruby Jenkins, Jannie Fatu (Bacary), Clara Washington, Mary (Stevens) Broughton, Lois (Jackie) Shuler, Deborah Fogle all of Bowman, Ethe Bell (Michael) Allen of Orangeburg, SC and Caroline Brice (Lincoln) of St. George, SC; five boys, Harvey Williams, Jr., Nathaniel Williams, Leroy (Gail) Williams and James Williams all of Bowman, SC and Pernell Fogle, Jr. of Orangeburg, SC; forty-four grandchildren; eight-five great grandchildren; eight great, great grandchildren; grandchildren she raised, Sonny Allen, Jamie Allen, Alasha Shuler, Pernell Fogle III, Daniel Fogel and Shawn Fogle; one brother, Kelven Pelzer; a host of grand nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
