Mr. Matthew Kirk Durant, the youngest son of the late Clifton Durant, Sr. and Dorothy M. Felder Durant, departed this life on May 24, 2013 at Bellevue Hospital in New York, New York.

Kirk was born July 28, 1963 in Charleston, South Carolina. He was a faithful member of Good Hope Baptist Church where he was a member of Good Hope Young Adult Choir, until relocated to Brooklyn, New York.

Kirk was a member of St. George High class of 1982. While at St. George High School, he was a dedicated member of the Eagles Basketball and football teams.

He was loved and will be missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Peter Smith, Paul Smith and Eddie Durant.

He leaves to cherish wonderful memories, six sisters, Loris Donaldson of Philadelphia, PA, Lena Frazier, Linda Glover and Annette Fontaine all of Brooklyn, New York, Ethel Judge of Charleston, South Carolina and Carletta Jennings of Harleyville, South Carolina; two brothers, Robert Ravenell, Sr. of St. George, South Carolina and Clifton Durant, Jr. of Holly Hill, South Carolina; two sisters-in-law, Mamie Sue Ravenell and Carrie Durant; three brothers-in-law, William Judge, Kenneth Glover and William Fontaine; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
