Mr. Matthew Boyd, son of the late Viola Boyd lemon was born October 18, 1929 in the Harleyville section of Dorchester County. On May 14, 2012 Matthew said it was time to cross over to be with his Heavenly Father. Matthew was affectionately known by his family and friends as "Tanky". Matthew was reared by his grandparents the late Christopher and Martha Boyd. He was educated in the public schools of Dorchester County. He moved to New York in search of a job. He was employed by General Motors of N.Y. for over 35 years as a painter.
He met and married Sally Bosier. To this union three children were born. After retiring from General Motors Matthew moved back to South Carolina making Reevesville, SC his home. He joined Bethel AME Church of St. George, SC upon his returning home.
He was preceded in death by his siblings, Norman Lemon, Jr., Raymond Lemon and Maxine Lemon.
He leaves loving and precious memories to a loving son, Bryan Boyd of Yonkers, NY; two caring and loving daughters, Wanda Castelle of Wappiners Falls, NY and Jennifer Boyd of Poughkeepsie, NY; four loving and caring sisters, Neomi Smith and Lillie R. Lemon both of Oneonta, NY, Alice Dickey of St. George, SC and Daisy (Rudolph) Stephens of Holly Hill, SC; one caring brother, Ray (Lavern) Lemon of Harleyville, SC; one adopted sister, Madge Cuttion of St. George, SC; two adopted brothers, Wilmore Kennerly of Summerville, SC and Sam Kennerly of Reevesville, SC; seven sisters-in-law, Thelma Wilson of Bronx, NY, Viola Myers of Pinewoods, SC, Canzie Brown of Summerton, SC Dorothy Watson of Yonkers, NY, Gervine Bell of Pemberton, NJ, Emma Lemon of Harleyville, SC and Mattie Lemon of Brooklyn, NY; three special grandsons, Denzel Boyd, Marcello Castelli and Stevon Boyd-Baum; a very special devoted niece and caregiver, Vida Gardner of Harleyville, SC; one uncle, Julius (Annie) Boyd of Dorchester, SC; a special devoted nephew, Darius Williams of the home; special caregiver and family friend, Greg Pooser of the home and a host of other loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
