Mrs. Mary Ruth Street Barnwell departed this life in the stillness of the evening of Tuesday, August 24, 2010 to join her heavenly Father and the many beloved family members who preceded her in death. Mary Ruth was born April 15, 1934 the youngest daughter of the late Mr. Willie and Mrs. Maebelle Hamilton Street.

Mary Ruth attended the public schools in Dorchester County.

At an early age Mary Ruth joined Bethel A.M.E. Church, St. George, SC, where she served on Stewardess Board #3 and the Senior Choir.

She was joined in holy matrimony to Isaac "Bubba" Barnwell for 53 years.

Mary Ruth took special care of her nieces and nephews. She assisted in many ways of raising them. They always new that she would help in any way that she felt was needed. Mary Ruth had to tell a story or two about the way things were when she was young, while she was telling her nieces and nephews what she was going to do.

Preceding her in death are two siblings Lue Bertha Hopkins and Shirley Ann Washington.

She leaves her precious and fond memories, her loving and devoted husband, Isaac Barnwell; several special, devoted nieces and nephews; uncle, Mr. Arrie Gadson; Aunts, Mrs. Lizzie Griffin, Mrs. Corine Gatson, Mrs. Clementine Gadson and Mrs. Minnie Lee Heyward; two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Edna Barnwell and Ms. Carrie Pryor; two brothers-in-law, Mr. David Barnwell and Mr. Isaac Pryor; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
