Obituary

MARY PRIMUS the daughter of Fannie and Leroy Ackerman was born May 11, 1939 in Williams, South Carolina. She departed this life on July 14, 2020.

Mary was educated in the public schools of Ruffin, S.C. She later moved to Brooklyn, NY. While there, she became a member of Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church for several years. She served as a faithful member of Bethel Baptist Church in St. George. Upon leaving Bethel, she rejoined Galilee Baptist Church in Round O, SC, where she attended until her health began to fail.

She was not just Nana to her grandchildren, practically everyone called her Nana. She was known for having huge dinner, baking cakes and her famous pies. Whenever, she got behind the wheel of a car, she was a speed demon.

On August 1, 1960, she married William Horace Adams. After his death she married Zell Primus in 1985. Both preceded her in death. Mary was also preceded by her parents, six brothers; Fruiten, Frank, Riddic, Johnny, Thomas and Carl; one sister, Daisy Epps.

She leaves to cherish a lifetime of memories, one son, Carlos (Meredith) Primus; three daughters, De'Neen Adams,  Norleen Adams (Mike), and Gloria ( Jacob) Robinson; seven grandsons, Jacob (Latosha) Robinson,  Judeah Robinson, William Davis, Tyree Hugie, Hercules III ( Latoya ) Davis, Dominique Davis and Andre Hurst; five granddaughters; Shawntay Hugie, Kalesha (Charles) Sapp, Selita Hugie, Whitney (Samuel) Gibson, and Lauren Primus; two adopted grandchildren,  Cheryl (Omar) Smith and Craig (Sonya) Grant; four great, great grandchildren, two brothers , Oscar  (Sharlene) Ackerman and Robert Ackerman; three sisters, Miriam Davis, Jacqueline Blakeney,  and Shirley (EJ) Brown; one sister-in-law, Joann Dubois; one brother-in-law, Cohen Walker; a host of nieces , nephews, cousins and friends.
