Marie Young departed this life on Monday, June 8, 2026, at Trident Regional Medical Center, North Charleston, SC.

Marie was born June 24, 1945, in Brooklyn, New York to the late Buster Young and Jessie Mae Young. While in New York, Marie worked for Verizon Telephone Company.  This was Marie's first job and she retired in 1999 after thirty-five (35) years of service.

Marie was a member of Brownsville Community Baptist Church, Brooklyn, NY, for many years. After relocating to St. George, SC, in 2004 Marie joined St. Mark Baptist Church under Christian Experience.

She was preceded in death by her parents; Buster and Jessie Mae Young; brother, Arthur Young; niece, Terry Daley, and brother-in-law, Eugene Wainwright.

She leaves to cherish her loving memories: one son, Danen Denard, Conyers, Ga.; one daughter, Nakia Denard–Wilson of the home; three grandchildren, Da'Quan (Shelly) Denard, Maia Wilson, and Savion Wilson; one sister, Rose Wainwright; two great-grands, Athena Denard, and soon to be Baby Denard; three aunts, Frances (Max) Folds, Susie Queen (Rev. General) Britt, and Nellie Rose Primus; one uncle, Deacon Paul Britt; Nieces, Charon Young, Tarana and Eugenia Wainwright; Nephew, Zaire Young; grandnieces, Laurnea Covington, and Tejante' Wainwright; grandnephew, Tyreef Daley. She is also survived by a host of great grandnieces, and great grandnephews, and a host of family members and friends.
